Work environment
- Usually work long shifts, including nights and weekends and may work part time
- Usually work in ambulances, air ambulances and helicopters, and travel locally and nationally
- May work in all weather conditions
- May do emotionally demanding work
- Need to work well under pressure, communicate well and be safety conscious

- Analyse patient data to determine patient needs or treatment goals
- Maintain medical or professional knowledge
- Sterilise medical equipment or instruments
- Drive vehicles to transport individuals or equipment

- Record patient medical histories
- Inform medical professionals regarding patient conditions and care
- Collaborate with health care professionals to plan or provide treatment
- Treat medical emergencies
