Rainbow Career Mentorship Programme

The AUT Rainbow Career Mentorship Programme connects rainbow students with industry mentors to provide guidance, support, and career insights in a safe and inclusive environment.

This initiative is sponsored by Microsoft.

How it works

Programme participants will be paired with a suitable mentor based on the information they provide in their application form. Their mentor will be someone who either identifies as rainbow or as an ally to the community.

Over the next three months, participants will have at least three one-on-one meetings with their mentor to get to know each other and set career goals. The aim is for each participant to grow their professional network while gaining practical career tips about job hunting, internships and interviews.

Programme details:

  • Duration: 3 months (from October to December 2025)
  • Mentorship matching: students are paired with a rainbow mentor or ally based on their goals and experience
  • Meet & Greet: event held on 1 October, this will include a mentorship workshop
  • Catch-ups: one meeting per month over three months (in person or online)
  • Focus areas: career goal-setting, workplace exposure, internships, job hunting, and interview preparation
  • Support: ongoing check-ins from the programme team

Spots for the pilot round are limited to 15 students and mentors. Applications will be considered carefully to ensure the best possible matches.

Applications close: Thursday 25 September 11.59PM
