Description of research project

This research project is being conducted to explore and better understand the influence of pay transparency on the organisational commitment of Generation Z employees who are currently working in the fashion retail industry in Auckland, New Zealand. Pay transparency means how openly an employer shares information about salaries, pay ranges, and pay-related decisions with employees. Some workplaces keep pay information private, while others choose to make it openly available to all staff. Organisational commitment refers to how loyal and dedicated you feel toward your workplace and whether you want to stay there. As a member of generation Z currently working in a fashion retail store, your voice is important in understanding whether openness about pay makes you feel more engaged, motivated, and valued at work. Your input will help build a clearer picture of the role transparency plays in shaping workplace trust and employee retention in your industry. If you choose to take part, you will participate in a one-on-one interview lasting about 30 to 60 minutes. This conversation will focus on your personal experiences and views about pay transparency in your workplace, and how it has affected your feelings toward your job. You will not be asked to share your exact pay rate or any private financial details. You can choose whether to have the interview online or in person. The interview will be relaxed and conversational, allowing you to speak openly in your own words. Your participation is entirely voluntary. This means you can decide whether to take part and can withdraw at any time without giving a reason. If you choose to withdraw before your information is analysed, any data you have provided will be destroyed. All information will be kept confidential, and your name or identifying details will not appear in the research findings. To thank you for your time, you will receive a $30 gift voucher or shopping voucher after completing the interview as a small gesture of appreciation for sharing your insights.
