Ways to give to AUT

A gift to AUT empowers our students and supports our social mission to provide accessible education.

No gift is too small. By donating directly to AUT, you give us the flexibility to direct funds to an area most in need – perhaps new research, basic student support or scholarships. You can also help support our mission in one of the ways described below.

Support an existing fund

By supporting an existing fund you can help us to continue to provide these excellent opportunities to our students.

Internz fund

A gift to our Internz fund can extend the potential of an exceptional AUT student by providing a life-changing opportunity to intern overseas and be mentored by leaders in their field. Students who are selected to receive an Internz International Scholarship have their expenses covered, giving them a chance to get their first taste of working life in a global market.

Seddon Memorial Technical College fund

The Seddon Memorial Technical College (SMTC) Scholarship celebrates AUT's heritage that stretches back to 1913. Generous SMTC alumni and teaching staff contribute to an endowment fund which provides scholarships to masters and honours students who demonstrate academic and community achievement.

Tastes of Home scholarship fund

A gift to the Tastes of Home scholarship fund will help remove financial barriers faced by young refugees or migrants studying at AUT. The fund began with the publication of the Tastes of Home cookbook in 2018 by a group of volunteer AUT students and staff with a common interest in making education more accessible for youth from refugee and migrant backgrounds.

You can support the fund by buying a book or making a direct donation.

Give a major gift

A major gift can leave a legacy that will create educational outcomes for generations. Please get in touch with us so we can work with you to develop a plan for your gift that aligns with your interests.

Leave a bequest

Making a bequest is a powerful way to support opportunities available to future students at AUT. A bequest costs nothing now, but can provide the satisfaction of knowing your passion for education will live on in the future.

We can arrange for free legal advice from AUT’s legal counsel and can provide appropriate wording for your will. We recommend you consult your lawyer or other professionals who have drawn up your will, and discuss your intentions with your family.

Create a scholarship or an award

Creating an award or scholarship in your name is a great way to direct philanthropic funds into an area you care about. Starting at around $500 for a one-off gift, a bespoke scholarship or award can also be turned into a permanent legacy with a specific purpose.

Other ways to give

Not every gift needs to be financial to be of value. We gratefully accept items as well as time and expertise – and we always connect these gifts up with the right people at AUT. Please get in touch to discuss your idea or to find out how you could help us.

Some gifts in kind include:

  • Resources like laptops and phones
  • Food
  • Mentoring and internships
Michael Lough, Gemma Keay, Ryan Walton and Johansen Miller, Internz International Scholarship Programme recipients 2018
Taylah Sykes-Martin received the Woolf Fisher First-in-Family AUT Scholarship (2016) and International Internz Scholarship (2018)
