Radio and audio studios

The radio and audio studios are collaborative spaces for communication studies students to gain hands-on experience with the same technology used in commercial radio stations and recording studios. From radio broadcasting to podcast creation, students have access to everything they need to bring their audio projects to life.

Radio studios

We have two radio stations on level 3 of the WG building – an online New Zealand music station and a campus-based FM radio station that broadcasts to inner-city Auckland. Both are equipped with industry-standard audio consoles, microphones and playback systems, so you can practice your broadcast skills in a professional environment.

Digital audio recording studios

We have a control booth with professional audio recording and editing equipment, paired with a dead (silent) recording space. You can use the space for recording voice tracks, movie Foley (a sound effect technique), or even a band. The recording space also has the latest Elgato recording and streaming equipment and uses a ProTools package – the industry standard in audio creation software.

Podcast Studio

Our professional podcast facilities are located in our digital audio recording studios in the WG building on level 1. The space has specialised audio and video casting equipment, plus streaming and recording gear for live content. It is also designed to reduce audio bounce and deliver crisp audio.
