Project Management short course

Learn how to deliver your projects within budget, on time, with high quality results.

These courses provide a “hands on” introduction to the practical use of project management tools and practices, such as those internationally recognised by the Project Management Institute. Participants will learn to define, plan and manage projects using approaches that allow flexibility whilst retaining rigorous control of cost, budget and schedule.

460101 Introduction to Project Management

Introduces the widely used critical path project management methodology. Participants examine the project management process including scoping and definition, planning and scheduling. The course examines the management of stakeholders, teams and teamwork for projects, as well as working within the reality of an organisational context.

460102 Advanced Project Management (pre-requisite: 460101)

This one day course introduces advanced topics such as earned value project control and managing changes to resources and time. During the course, participants are encouraged to evaluate and increase their own leadership skills for the management of real-world projects. This course is only available to participants that have completed 460101 Introduction to Project Management.

Simon has been teaching in business schools at graduate and postgraduate level since 1994. He currently teaches on a range of papers across the PhD, MBus and BBus programmes, and also delivers executive development programmes for major international organisations both in NZ and overseas. This has included running the strategic planning, implementation and performance management sessions on a three-year management training programme for one of Australasia's largest companies, and project management executive training to large NZ organisations locally and internationally.
