Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process through which a learner may obtain AUT academic credit for relevant learning gained some other way. RPL can be formal or non-formal. It is measured against the learning outcomes of the paper for which credit is sought. An academic transcript and course descriptions for any courses done with another tertiary provider are required for formal RPL. For Non-Formal RPL, a portfolio containing evidence of non-formal learning is required.
