Advanced Project Management

This one day course introduces advanced topics such as earned value project control and managing changes to resources and time. During the course, participants are encouraged to evaluate and increase their own leadership skills for the management of real-world projects. This course is only available to participants that have completed 460101 Introduction to Project Management.

Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm

  • The importance of resources for projects
  • The organisational requirements for project management
  • Approaches to project estimation
  • Understand the role of direct and indirect costs on project budgets
  • The idea of project time compression, or ‘crashing’
  • The concept of earned value
  • The personal and leadership characteristics required for projects
  • Understand the reasons for alternative project approaches, i.e. PERT, PRINCE2, Critical Chain
  • Recalculate simple project budgets based on changes to the baseline, such as changes to resources or time requirements
  • How to use Earned Value control and reporting
  • Understand how to approach Microsoft project
  • Review their capabilities in order to create a project management development plan
