PIPEF was established in 1972 (renamed to PEF in 2016) to encourage Pacific students into further education and is funded by the Ministry of Education.
The Foundation’s board members reflect the modern Pacific Island community and its various cultures.
How do students apply?
Applications have closed but will reopen in 2021. The Application Form must be fully completed with all necessary documents attached. Incomplete or illegible applications may not be considered. We strongly recommend you ask someone else to check your completed application before you send it to us.
When we receive applications, we will check them to ensure they meet all eligibility criteria. The selection panel will then assess your application on the following: • Your ability to communicate effectively and your motivations to pursue tertiary education • Your current qualifications • Your need(s) (financial or otherwise) • Your academic success and personal achievement • Your experiences leading and working with people, and where possible, our Pacific communities Note: we acknowledge that some applicants may not have opportunities to be involved in their respective Pacific community/communities. Please include all activities that you have been/are involved in in your community (Pacific and/or wider community). Note: academic success is not necessarily only getting high grades or completing your qualification, but may also include, for example, being first in family to attend a tertiary institution, receiving entrance into various courses or programmes, attending a tertiary institution away from home, and/or commitment to your Pacific culture(s) within the academic context. Please tell us your perspective on academic success.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
We will let you know by email that we have received your application. Please contact us if your application is not acknowledged within one week of the closing date, or if your contact details change .
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
You must also include details about how you will use this scholarship.The selection panel is interested in knowing how this scholarship will support your studies and meet the various costs that come from studying.
The selection panel is looking for any qualifications you may have, your work history whether its employment or voluntary work, community involvement, and life experiences you bring with you to your studies.
