The Electricity Engineers’ Association (EEA) Scholarship was established by the EEA in 2012.

To assist students studying for the degrees of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) (Honours) and the Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BET) at AUT University.

Selection criteria:

  • The Scholarship is available to a student who is; •A New Zealand citizen or permanent resident •Enrolled full-time for Year 4 of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) or Year 3 of the Bachelor of Engineering Technology at AUT specializing in the fields of electricity generation or production; power systems; or electricity utilisation •Selection will take into account academic achievement, leadership potential, personal qualities, communication skills and the candidate’s potential contribution to the future development of power engineering.

How do students apply?
Application will be through the AUT Scholarships on-line portal. Applicants will be expected to upload a two page personal statement by the candidate based upon attributes outlined in the selection criteria.

Decision makers
Interviews shall take place in May each year.

How and when do students learn of the decision?
The Award will be made on recommendation of a selection Committee comprising a member of the University Scholarships Committee; the Head of Department – Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or nominee; and a representative of the EEA.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
Applicants will nominate two referees in the application portal. Applicants are advised to discuss with their referees that the referees will receive an email requesting the support for their personal statement.

Additional information
The Scholarship may be terminated on receipt of an adverse report on the progress of the Scholar from the selection committee. No award shall be made if it is considered that there is no suitable applicant in any year.

Who else has information about this award?
Conditions of the award of the Scholarship may be varied from time to time by the Scholarships Committee after consultation with the EEA.
