Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is providing accommodation scholarships to financially support new to AUT and new to programme international students for Semester One, 2023 in their journey to becoming great graduates of AUT.

The scholarship guarantees accommodation at AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation, located in the heart of Auckland city, just a minute’s walk from AUT City Campus, offering quality, modern, single studio-style living.

Selection criteria:

  • International New to AUT or New to Programme New to AUT or new to Programme, full-fee paying international students undertaking an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme of study of at least 120 points or pathway programme into undergraduate degree level study at AUT. Doctoral programmes are not included. 1.  Applicants must be full-fee paying international students (Note: International students are students who are neither citizens, permanent residents nor resident visa holders of New Zealand or Australia). 2. New to AUT or new to Programme applicants must have a current and valid conditional or unconditional offer to study in an AUT programme (minimum 120 points) full time commencing Semester 1, 2023. 3. Applicants enrolling in a programme less than 120 points intending to pathway on to undergraduate degree level study may apply. 4. Doctoral students are excluded and not eligible for the scholarship.

How do students apply?
Application is through the AUT online scholarship portal Applicants must complete the AUT International Student Accommodation Scholarships application available from the link on this page.   Applicants are required to upload: 1. Current and valid conditional or unconditional offer to study at AUT commencing Semester 1, 2023. 2. Updated academic transcripts and any completion certificates. All documentation must be uploaded and correct otherwise the application will be considered ineligible. Applicants are required to declare if they have applied for other forms of scholarships both internally (i.e. awarded by AUT) and externally (e.g. government scholarships). The selection committee will take this into consideration.

Decision makers
The country of origin of the applicant may be considered by the selection committee to align with AUT’s strategic aims. The first 250 applicants to be assessed eligible and accept their offer of scholarship will be awarded the AUT International Student Accommodation Scholarship.

How and when do students learn of the decision?
Applicants will be notified of the outcome by the University Scholarships Office as soon as possible after assessment is completed.

What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
1. The award of this scholarship is conditional on the student gaining entry to an eligible programme of study commencing Semester 1, 2023. 2. Recipients will reside in AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation and the 50% rebate applied directly to the student’s rental account in monthly instalments. 3. Recipients of this scholarship are required to be enrolled full time at AUT and be residing in AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation during the tenure of the scholarship. Failure to do so may result in the recipient be required to pay back the full value of the scholarship received. 4. The scholarship will not be released until enrolment fees are paid and after the date for withdrawal from study in Semester 1 and Semester 2, 2023.

Additional information
AUT International Student Accommodation Scholarship is paid as 50% rebate off the weekly rental at AUT’s Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation for Semester 1 and Semester 2, 2023 during the period of occupation up to a maximum of 40 weeks.  Total number on offer: 250 1.  Applicants must agree to a Residential Contract to reside at Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive student accommodation facility. 2.  Applicants must be Covid-19 fully vaccinated or willing to become fully vaccinated should NZ Government, AUT or Accommodation provider settings require vaccination. 3.  If awarded, applicants will be asked to accept their Offer of Place and pay the full tuition fees as per the pro-forma invoice in their Offer of Place. 4.  Recipients may hold other non-accommodation scholarships of similar or lower value with the approval of the University Scholarships Office.
