The AUT Business School, in conjunction with a generous donation from a family trust, is pleased to be able to offer a scholarship to enable students in the Bachelor of Business to undertake an International Virtual Internship which can be used for Cooperative Education (Coop).

The aim of the Business Undergraduate Cooperative Education Scholarship is to offer assistance to students when, due to financial circumstances, it would be difficult for them to undertake the International Virtual Internship option. This scholarship will be offered in 2022 only as a result of repurposing the Business Undergraduate International Exchange Scholarship due to COVID-19.

Selection criteria:

  • 1. Applicants for these scholarships must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.  2. Be enrolled full-time in the AUT Bachelor of Business in either the second or third year of their studies, at the time of application for the Cooperative Education.  3. Demonstrate a satisfactory academic record normally with a minimum B grade average.  4. Be accepted for a Virtual Internship via the selected third party provider.

General Information:

How do students apply?
Application is through the AUT on-line scholarship application portal.  Applicants must apply via the application relevant to the Business Co-Operative intake period they are enrolling in.  Applicants must upload to their application a written statement outlining:  (1) type/area of Virtual Internship the applicant has been accepted into and why they chose it;  (2) how the Virtual Internship experience will benefit the applicant;  (3) the financial circumstances that would make it difficult to undertake the Virtual Internship; and  (4) the ability to fund the balance of the costs associated with the Virtual Internship if their application is successful. Applicants must nominate one referee through the portal. Applicants send an email from the "Request Section" of the online application to their referee asking them to provide a reference statement through the portal.
