Refugee Study Awards are for women who have been refugees and have not been through the New Zealand school system but are now studying for a New Zealand tertiary qualification.
To support women who have arrived in New Zealand as a refugee, to gain a tertiary qualification. The awards are a one off grant to help with study and/or living expenses.
How do students apply?
Application requirements: 1. A completed online application form 2. Academic record of learning or equivalent 3. Confirmation of enrolment or equivalent
How and when do students learn of the decision?
Once the selection process is completed, all applicants will be notified of the outcome. This is expected to be mid-June with awards presented in July/August.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
- Undertake the programme of study or activity for which the award was granted - Receive the award at a NHWT:HK awards ceremony in July-August - Provide a progress report to NHWT:HK in the year you receive the award - To immediately notify the NHWT:HK of any change in your enrolment or other circumstances - Allow NHWT:HK and the award sponsor to use your name, photograph and information about you and other members of your group for publicity purposes
There are up to two awards offered and though applications are accepted from anywhere in New Zealand preference will be given to applicants from Manawatu and Wellington regions. The awards are sponsored by Graduate Women Manawatu and The Second Chance Group in Wellington.
