This award is funded by the Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust. The Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust trading as Academic Dress Hire is a non-profit organisation "Empowering through Education". Their vision is achieved through the provision of awards and financial and other assistance.
These awards are sponsored by Starchi Ltd and are to assist women enrolled in the third year of the Bachelor of Design programme, majoring in Fashion Design within the School of Art and Design at Auckland University of Technology (AUT).
How do students apply?
· Application for this scholarship is on-line through the AUT scholarships portal. · Evidence of Application for Enrolment (AFE) for an eligible programme of study in the School of Art and Design at AUT. This can be obtained by enrolling at AUT online. Applicants will be asked to supply a statement covering the applicant’s: · need for financial assistance; · aspirations for the future; · any special circumstances (e.g. family responsibilities, personal disability) considered relevant. Applicants must request one academic referee to provide a letter of support through the on-line scholarships application portal. Applicants are requested to ensure that their referee is aware of the scholarship deadline.
In making these awards, the selection committee shall give consideration to: · Applicant’s academic record; (for the purpose of this award, academic merit will be assessed from the GPA obtained over the applicant’s previous two years of graded study in the Bachelor of Design programme, majoring in Fashion Design at AUT). · Referee’s report. · Applicant’s need for financial assistance. · Applicant’s aspirations for the future. · Any special circumstances. · Involvement in extra-curricular/co-curricular activities will be of interest to the panel. · The decision of the selection panel is final. · If the panel is of the opinion that there is no applicant of sufficient merit applying for the scholarship, then no award will be made and applications may be reopened.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
· Confirmation of the award will not be made before mid-May of the year of application. · Applicants will be formally notified of the outcome of their application by the Scholarships Office.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
· The successful applicant is required to complete her year of study and make a brief report to the Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust at the end of this study. · Failure to complete two full consecutive semesters will require refund of the full value of the award.
Up to two scholarships are available annually.
