In 1971 Ruth Kahureremoa Winiata bequeathed funds to the Māori Education Foundation for the establishment of a scholarship in memory of her mother and father.
Available to Māori graduates to enable them to complete postgraduate studies. Pre-requisite is completion of a Masters Degree.
How do students apply?
1. Tertiary students are encouraged to submit an online application at www.maorieducation.org.nz 2. Incomplete applications will be declined 3. You must advise the Māori Education Trust of any changes to your application. All changes must be advised in writing (email, fax and post are acceptable) 4. All supporting documentation must be submitted. Hardcopy of the Application form can be downloaded from the website link provided below.
Selection panels are made up of external subject experts and representatives of bequest whanau and Trusts.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
All applicants (successful and unsuccessful) will be notified in writing within three months after the scholarship closing date.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
If you meet scholarship criteria, you can apply for as many scholarships as you wish, however you can only be awarded one.
Successful applicants will be required to provide hard-copy evidence of their enrolment at their Secondary School or Tertiary Institution, before final payments of grants are made.
