The funds for these scholarships are provided by the income from a bequest made to the University of New Zealand in 1959 by Isabel Maria Kidson.
The object of the scholarship is to enable students who have shown ability in physics or a combination of physics and mathematics to undertake doctoral study in meteorology or some other branch of science, either in New Zealand or overseas.
The scholarships shall be awarded each year by Universities New Zealand - Te Pōkai Tara, on the recommendation of the UNZ Scholarships Committee.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
Decisions are made in December and students will be notified by phone or email.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
If there is more than one suitable candidate for a scholarship then preference will be given to a candidate who has been a pupil of Nelson Boys' College or, if there is no such candidate, then one who has been an undergraduate at the University of Canterbury.
