The funds for this scholarship are provided by the income from a bequest made by Mrs Elsie Violet Wells.
The scholarship supports postgraduate students at Masters level to carry out research in the fields of medicine, veterinary science, agriculture, psychology, psychiatry or theology.
Each university shall nominate no more than one applicant each year, and the award decided by the Scholarship Committee of Universities New Zealand at its annual meeting in December.
How and when do students learn of the decision?
Students will be notified by the end of December by phone or email whether they are unsuccessful or not.
What conditions are attached to acceptance of this award?
The award shall be tenable by those undertaking full time study at a university in New Zealand. The year of tenure shall be the thesis year of a Master's degree.
Applicants must provide: - a statement outlining their thesis research - a statement outlining their extracurricular activities - a statement describing any other particulars that may prove useful to the selection committee - details of two people from whom they have requested references.
