This course provides postgraduate psychology students with foundational knowledge and skills for supporting brief, manualised, low-intensity cognitive behavioural therapy in Aotearoa New Zealand. Students will develop a critical understanding of current evidence-based, trauma-informed and culturally responsive therapeutic approaches. Emphasis is placed on culturally safe, ethical, and reflective practice, guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Māori models of wellbeing, when engaging with individuals, groups, whānau and hapori within Aotearoa. Through experiential learning and psychologically informed case conceptualisation, students will learn to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application.
