This practicum course prepares students for specialist paramedic practice, focusing on the consolidation and integration of clinical expertise within a defined area of practice, and further explores culturally safe care. Students will identify professional development goals and implement strategies to enhance their skills within their chosen scope, whether in extended care or critical care contexts. Extended Care Paramedic (ECP) students will focus on primary and community-based care, while Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) students will develop advanced skills for high-acuity and emergency settings. This process is guided by current best practices, including research evidence, legislation, professional codes of conduct, and defined scopes of practice within the context of Aotearoa.
