This course develops an understanding of the importance of te ao māori perspectives in health education and physical education. It examines philosophical underpinnings of teaching and learning in health and physical education and its relationship to mātauranga Māori. Learners critically explore pedagogies which embed mātauranga Māori within the teaching of health education and physical education and consider the relationship between tikanga in the community (mana whenua) and school practices.
