Spanish 1B will reinforce and extend existing knowledge and skills gained in Spanish 1A. The emphasis is to develop elementary linguistic competency in Spanish in five components: listening, speaking, reading, writing and grammar, and in understanding elementary level language use within the Spanish cultural context so students gain active knowledge of basic conversation in Spanish. Another important feature of language learning is the knowledge and understanding of Spanish culture. Therefore, this course aims to gain communicative competence in the Spanish language as a whole, in daily situations within cultural and social contexts.
