This course builds on the fundamental power system concepts introduced in the prerequisite course and develops students’ ability to analyse the behaviour and operation of electrical power systems. The course focuses on the modelling and performance analysis of key power system components including transformers, synchronous generators, and transmission networks. It examines the interrelationship between real and reactive power, system voltage, and system frequency, and addresses practical operational issues such as voltage and frequency control. The impacts of integrating renewable energy technologies into modern power systems are also considered, together with an introduction to power flow analysis tools used in industry practice.
