My role as a Student Recruitment Advisor based at AUT South Campus gives me the opportunity to engage with local schools and understand their community. Whether it is a campus tour for a family, to hosting revision workshops for Year 13s, there is nothing more rewarding than building a strong relationship with a student and seeing them progress throughout the year, ready to transition to university.
I graduated in Christchurch from the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) in 2009. I enjoy combining my experience in various performing arts mediums with youth and community work.
A few of my highlights include delivering educational productions to over 250 primary schools across New Zealand; directing youth arts programmes for at-risk youth at the Corban Estate Arts Centre; and directing workshops for the Interacting Trust that developed the potential and capabilities of disabled people through theatre. Most recently I worked for Affirming Works (a not-for-profit organisation based in South Auckland) delivering mentoring services and social enterprise.
I am of Tongan descent and was born in Auckland. My mother has worked at ASB for over 30 years and my father is a minister for the Congregational Methodist Church. I have two younger brothers: one is a civil engineer and the other a primary school teacher.
Outside of work I am committed to church and the performing arts – but most of all spending quality time with my family.
