MyFuture

Programme for secondary students

“Na te huruhuru te manu e rere”

International studies show that the best time to engage young people about their future education plans is between the ages of 13 and 15. Yet, many interactions between secondary schools and tertiary providers are limited to students’ final year at school. AUT’s MyFuture programme has taken a different approach.

MyFuture engages secondary school students, and their schools, families and communities, in order to contribute to the personal development, skills, and educational and career aspirations of student participants. Beginning in Year 10, students move through four key stages, tied to each school year – Engage, Enable, Empower and Equip.

Students develop a deeper understanding of their own educational and career aspirations, and MyFuture supports them to make decisions about the secondary school study pathways that will best prepare them for future tertiary study. Decisions about their secondary school study pathways that will best prepare them for tertiary education.
