AUT's Textile + Design Lab
The Textile + Design Lab (TDL) is a world-class research and development centre that works with students and industry partners to push the boundaries in textile, fashion and product design. Find out more about what the TDL does in this video.
The Textile Design programme intersects a variety of textile disciplines through its use of both traditional, analogue and digital techniques for textile making. It engages with a hybrid of technical technologies and craft-based skills which include hand framed knit, screen printing through to digital print, laser cutting, smart textiles and advanced digital knit.
This programme offers a unique approach engaging the designer-maker through to the digital creative. Access to advanced digital facilities allow students to explore fusions of traditional textile methods and future practices for contemporary textiles and applications.
