4th-year student, Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Architectural Engineering
Choosing to study architectural engineering was an easy decision, says Liam Crawford.
“The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Architectural Engineering seemed to be a great combination of a few of my interests, including design and general problem solving. This particular course is totally unique in New Zealand, and I also liked that AUT’s degree covers some content other engineering qualifications don’t include.
“I’m seeking to use my design skills in the construction industry, and would love to leverage my architectural engineering qualification to move closer to the architectural discipline and contribute to a project’s entire design process.”
New ideas and new people
There have been many highlights throughout Liam’s studies.
“What I enjoyed most about my time at AUT was being exposed to new ideas and new people. This has been really beneficial to expanding my knowledge, and has made the journey very exciting.”
He would highly recommend studying architectural engineering to others, says Liam who is currently employed as a project engineer working on commercial structural steel contracts across Auckland.
“I would absolutely recommend this degree if you enjoy problem solving and design, as this qualification really gives you a unique and versatile set of skills and knowledge.”
Advice for other students
About to graduate in December, Liam has some great advice for other students.
“My advice for other students is to take new and different opportunities as they come your way.
“And never be afraid to test your limitations.”
