Aum Sukasem

North Island Manager, CSP Pacific
Master of Construction Management

He decided to study a Master of Construction Management to further increase his understanding of the industry, says Aum Sukasem who is originally from Thailand.

“My bachelor’s degree from Thailand is in civil engineering, and after moving to New Zealand I was looking to study a master’s degree to grow my professional knowledge.”

Choosing AUT for his studies was an easy decision, he says.

“AUT is a well-known university in New Zealand. It has nice facilities for studying, and the professors at AUT are great. They’re very knowledgeable and well-known in New Zealand.”

A career in the road industry
Aum now works as the North Island manager for CSP Pacific, a leading supplier of civil roading construction and road safety products.

“I’ve been working in the road industry for about five years now and have a passion for road safety. I’m proud of to be a part of the road safety team.”

Over the last few years he has been involved in a number of New Zealand’s largest road construction projects.

“I’m particularly proud of working on large road works projects like the Kirkbride project, Northern Interceptor and the NX2 project.”

Advice for other students
Having graduated from AUT in 2018, Aum has some great advice for other students who are only at the start of their university journey.

“My advice is to find what you like, be curious and don’t stop learning. One day will be your day.”

He wouldn’t hesitate to recommend AUT to other students.

“AUT has great facilities, resources and support services. There are also the great professors who can help you achieve your professional path.”
