International opportunities for AUT students

Spending time living and studying overseas can grow your perspective of the world – and expand your education. At AUT, we encourage you to take part in international opportunities and gain valuable global experience.

Find out where you can go on student exchange during your degree, or learn how you can get hands-on experience working overseas on an Internz international scholarship in the year after you graduate.

International student exchange

Interested in travelling while completing your AUT degree? Lots of our students do a semester or two at one of our partner universities on an international exchange.

Studying overseas can change your life – you’ll be immersed in another culture, meet new people and gain international experience. Cross credit the points back to your AUT degree and continue your studies when you return to New Zealand. Here are just a few reasons why you should go on exchange:

  • You’ll learn a lot – both academically and personally
  • You’ll return to AUT with more self-confidence and maturity
  • You’ll add value to your degree by experiencing different teaching styles and taking different courses

Where you can go on exchange, how to apply, and more

Find out more about international exchange, including a list of our partner institutions and how to apply, on our student website Student Hub Online.

AUT Internz: international internships for graduates

If you’re keen to transition quickly from study to the workforce, and doing it in a new market – and culture – sounds exciting, you can apply for an Internz scholarship to take you overseas in the year after you graduate.

The AUT Internz scholarship programme helps fast-track AUT graduates into the world of work , offering around thirty 12-week paid internships to graduating students each year. The scholarship includes return travel to the destination city, a visa and health and travel insurance.

Over 200 new AUT graduates have had their first taste of working life in countries like the United States, Canada, Singapore and the UK, working for global organisations including Allbirds, Lululemon, Paramount Recording Studios, Red Antler, Facebook and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
