Lyle has over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry and has maintained close links with NZ based companies since joining AUT in 2000. An extensive knowledge of the fashion industry has been combined with his specialist area of Computer Aided Design leading to roles of Programme leader for Diploma in Fashion and 3rd year degree leader. Lyle’s MA Theses completed in 2009 focussed on the integration of wearable electronics linked to sporting interests. His area of research has involved project work with the Textile & Design Lab at AUT resulting in recent publications and presentations including AUTEX International Textile conference in Finland in 2007 and The Textile Institute centenary conference in Manchester, UK in November 2010.

Teaching Areas:

Technology focused fashion, specialising in computer aided design and manufacture. Has recently supervised Product Design soft materials projects and lead a wearable electronics paper for Bachelor of Creative Technologies.

Research Areas:

Wearable electronics, e- textiles, High performance sportswear,3-D body scanning.
