  • Legal History
  • Corporate law

Research Summary:

My research interests are quite broad. So much is so interesting! I am currently doing a significant amount of research on the legal history of New Zealand, Australia, the United States and Canada. I have also been in Taiwan and in Hong Kong working on various issues concerning indigenous hunting and fishing rights.

I view the law as the complex result of political, social, economic and ethical factors. As a result, the context and underlying policy is an important element in analysing legal phenomena. Nevertheless because I used to practice law I continue to appreciate the importance of black letter rules and analysis.

Current Research Projects:

  • Taiwanese Indigenous Hunting and Gathering Rights
  • Deforestation in 19th Century Canada, Australia, United States and New Zealand
