Overview:

Caryn is an AUT senior lecturer and New Zealand Registered Dietitian with considerable experience in the area of nutrition relating to metabolic health, and sport, both in the research and clinical practice context. Her research interests and specialisation are on carbohydrate-restriction / ketogenic diets and intermittent fasting in children and adult populations.

Caryn is also a clinician in the field of dietetics. She manages and works in a dietetics clinic, with one other dietitian, which she mentors in both the research (current PhD students) and practice space. Her dietetics clinic specialises in carbohydrate-restriction (low carbohydrate, healthy fat and ketogenic diets) for conditions characterised by insulin resistance and inflammation.

Fields of research:

  • Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Clinical and Sports Nutrition
  • Public Nutrition Intervention
