Biography:

After Chris completed a PhD in psychology at the University of Auckland, he worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Liggins Institute on a large project funded by the National Research Centre for Growth and Development. Chris has been at AUT since, where his research work increasingly moved towards outcomes measurement and psychometrics. He is a founding member of the New Zealand World Health Organisation Quality of Life (WHOQOL) Group, which is involved in a number of research projects.

Research Summary:

Chris is a founding member of the New Zealand World Health Organisation Quality of Life (NZ WHOQOL) Group which conducts research about quality of life issues in a wide range of health and educational settings. Chris has developed expertise in outcome measurement and psychometrics. Other work includes measurement and conceptual issues in mindfulness. He is currently Associate Editor for the journal Mindfulness (IF>3), and is the chair of the conference organising committee for a large international mindfulness conference in 2019 (www.icm2019.org). Chris is an author on over 70 peer-reviewed articles, co-author of a popular research methods textbook, and co-editor of two books on student wellbeing. Other ongoing book projects are a handbook on measurement of mindfulness and a book outlining developments in mindfulness research (both expected to be completed in 2018).
