Biography:

I am a Masters of Physiotherapy post graduate in Adult Neurosciences. I am now pursuing a PhD under the supervision of Professor Denise Taylor and Dr Nicola Saywell. I have worked at premier health institutes as a full-time physiotherapist and as an Assistant Professor at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in India, acquiring three years of solid work experience. With this practical exposure and academic inclination, I was drawn towards posture, balance and gait in patients with neurological disorders.

In addition to pursuing my PhD, I have been working as a Research Assistant at AUT.

Research Areas:

Neurological Rehabilitation
Neuroscience
Balance, Posture and Gait (Evaluation and Intervention)

Research Summary:

My PhD is investigating the eye movement patterns in subjects with Visual Motion Hypersensitivity/Visual Vertigo, a prominent symptom of Persistent Perceptual Postural Dizziness. The main aim of my research is to identify the eye movements that lead to occurrence of dizziness in busy surroundings such as supermarkets and shopping malls in subjects post vestibular insult. I will be comparing these eye movement patterns with those of healthy adult to identify what are the main differences that lead to dizziness in busy surroundings in such subjects.

Current Research Projects:

PhD Topic: Pattern of eye movements in subjects with Visual Motion Hypersensitivity compared with healthy adults when subjected to moving visual environment.
