Biography:

I joined AUT in January 2017 upon completing my PhD in law at the University of Tasmania (UTAS). The title of my doctoral thesis is ‘A Basic Economic Case for Reordering the Patent Market with Gain-based Legal Remedies’. My PhD thesis is a product of multi-disciplinary research, being one based on the use of microeconomic theories to expound on the place and impact of legal remedies in the ordering of the patent marketplace. Although my doctoral studies relates largely to patent law it has heightened my interest and passion for how legal remedies shape arrangements in areas of private law such as contract law, tort law and the commercial aspects of other spheres of intellectual property law.

Teaching Areas:

  • Contract law
  • Private law remedies
  • Foundations of Law and Economics

Research Areas:

  • Contract law
  • Tort law
  • Private law remedies
  • Commercial aspects of Intellectual Property, particularly patents
  • Economic analysis of law

Research Summary:

My research interests relate largely to private law, particularly the economic analysis of the interactions between private law remedies and private legal entitlements.
