Gwyn Lewis completed her PhD in human motor control in 2003. Her research since this time has focused on motor control and neurophysiological studies involving people with movement disorders and in neural pathways associated with pain. Her studies examine the pathophysiology of neurological conditions and the development and assessment of therapeutic interventions.

Recent research has also involved the use of virtual reality-based interventions to facilitate rehabilitation outcomes.
