Biography:

My experience includes:

AUT University:

  • Post-graduate supervisor (BDes (Hons), MDes)
  • Teaching across all levels of the BDes fashion and textiles programme, including: Design, Theory and Industry Practice
  • Work with students in a variety of areas of Textile design including:
  • Design research, concept development, contextual research/trend forecasting
  • Drawing, painting, digital artwork for design
  • Visual experimentation, colour development, final print creation
  • Collaborate with industry and manage student projects
  • Writer of elective briefs
  • Teaching Minor – Textile experimentation


University of Leeds:

  • Lecturer and Year 1 Leader of the BA(Hons) Textile Design course
  • Formal lectures, studio-based tutoring/critiques, workshops and dissertation supervision
  • Teaching experience for undergraduate Textile Design course included visual studies, printed textiles, mixed media, woven and knitted textiles for fashion and interior applications.

Research interests are in the area of Smart and technical textiles.  I am interested in investigating unconventional materials and developing new techniques by utilising technology to realise new design processes and concepts.
