Biography:

Andy is an Associate Professor in Colab and has previously worked in the School of Computer & Mathematical Sciences at AUT.

Prior to joining AUT, he worked as a Senior Consultant for the INBIS Group on a wide range of systems engineering projects. He has also worked for a leading CAD/CAM systems provider and held postdoctoral research positions at the prestigous Engineering Design Centres at the University of Cambridge and the University of Bath.

Andy has a passion for the outdoors and is often found tramping, mountain  biking, surfing, rock climbing, kayaking or scuba diving.

Teaching Areas:

Andy teaches on both the undergraduate and postgraduate Creative Technologies programmes. He also supervises postgraduate students from a number of different disciplines.

Research Areas:

Andy's primary research interest is in evolutionary computation, with applications in the creative industries, engineering design and software engineering.

in addition to these core interests, Andy is engaged in projects involving virtual reality, game development and technology facilitated learning.
