Biography:

Gregory Bennett is Senior Lecturer in the Digital Design Department and a practicing digital artist who works with 3D animation, motion capture, projection mapping, interactive media and virtual reality.

He has a Masters degree from the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland, and has a background in both fine arts practice and moving image production and post-production. His video work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, and is represented in both public and private collections in New Zealand and overseas. He has been teaching in the Digital Design Department since 2011 where he has developed the first courses in motion capture.

Research Summary:

Gregory's research and publication interests span both digital art and design practice. His digital visual arts practice is concerned with the appropriation of digital industrial technologies such as 3D animation, motion capture, and virtual reality for experimental moving image and interactive art production. His digital design practice-based research explores the creation of a range of user experiences for virtual reality applications.
