Research Summary:

Work is to improve the understanding of the role played by NO (Nitric Oxide) in upper and lower respiratory tract infections. Upper respiratory tract infection is a fairly common pathology, yet few studies have measured nasal NO. The measurement of nasal NO levels may be helpful in further exploring the physiological and pathophysiological roles of this gas in the airways. Moreover, it may be possible to develop tests that can be clinically useful in the treatment and monitoring of certain respiratory disorders such as Asthma and Cystic Fibrosis.
