AUT International House is a signatory to the Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students. This means we have a responsibility to make sure you are safe and well cared for while you are here. As part of this, we make sure that our student apartment and homestay accommodation meets the requirements of the code.
Living in a homestay is great way to experience New Zealand culture and improve your English. You live with a family in their home, so you can expect to take part in Kiwi life and speak English every day.
We visit all homestays and choose them carefully, so you can become part of the family.
Homestay accommodation includes:
You can book a homestay for a minimum of 4 weeks, unless you are enrolling for a 2 week course. We recommend you arrive on the weekend before your course starting date.
You need to book your homestay when you enrol for your course – or at least two weeks before you arrive in New Zealand. We will confirm your booking once you have paid for it.
Another option is AUT’s City Campus student accommodation, the Wellesley Student Apartments. These apartments are safe and modern and just a few minutes’ walk from International House.
Your fee includes
You must buy a linen package (bedding) from us. We add the cost to your fees, and give you the package when you arrive.
Bring your own towels.
You can book for a minimum of 4 weeks, unless you are enrolling for a 2 week course. You check in on the Sunday before your course start date, and you check out on the Saturday after your course finishes.
We recommend you book accommodation as soon as possible to make sure you get a room.
We will confirm your booking once you have paid for it.
International House can arrange other student apartment options just a short walk from International House. The accommodation is fully furnished and can be a good way to meet other students.
Contact International House for more information.
AUT’s Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation is a new, purpose-built complex across the road from the City Campus buildings. Each room has its own kitchenette and bathroom, bed and furniture. For more information, fees and how to apply for accommodation, check the UniLodge website.
If you want International House to arrange a homestay or student apartment for you, complete the accommodation section in the online application form or download the separate accommodation form.
