From Eke Tangaroa to the world!
Approaching the end of another academic year, we’re taking stock and thinking about all the wonderful people who have joined AUT through the Eke Tangaroa programme. Many have stayed and built long-term academic careers here, while some have moved on to take up opportunities elsewhere.
This news features one of our 2022 cohort in the School of Education – Toleafoa Dr Yvonne Ualesi. Yvonne quickly became one of the most popular colleagues and lecturers in the School, with her bright friendly personality, and caring can-do approach.
In 2024, Yvonne was promoted to senior lecturer and a finalist in the Matariki Staff Awards. She achieved many personal goals and participated in Eke Tangaroa network activities, including our collective writing projects.
Yvonne has recently been appointed as the programme director of the Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity programme based at Melbourne University. She will be moving to Melbourne to take up this full-time senior academic role in the School of Education from the start of 2026.
Eke Tangaroa and AUT are sad to be losing Yvonne, but very pleased and proud to see her soar!
