Engaging in spiritual events

Random acts of kindness week

There are regular activities and special events held for AUT’s students and staff to engage with spiritual worship, reflection, and education.

Events led by Chaplains

The AUT chaplains lead regular worship, prayer, meditation and fellowship groups – these are generally specific to a particular faith, although chaplains do welcome enquirers seeking to find our more and experience each faith.

Annual spiritual events are times of significant spiritual events and celebrations. By highlighting awareness of these events, it can assist university staff and students to acknowledge the multicultural nature of AUT’s community, and to plan and manage times when religious observance may make participation in study and work demands difficult for those that observe them.

Regular events

Regular interactive activities are hosted in communal spaces at each campus. They are an opportunity for people to engage with small actions of goodwill, joy, hope, justice, etc.

They can be activities such as lighting a candle or writing a message for peace, for special people, at times of global significance, and so on.

Special events

Special events provided by AUT’s spirituality services will appeal to a wider audience, and are often an educational experience.

These events include faith-specific or interfaith forums, which address a particular theme - attendees are invited to participate in the discussion – previous attendees often cite the educational value and exemplar of respect modelled at these forums.

Other special events provide the opportunity to experience something special e.g. a cultural food fest with explanation of each faith’s food practices, or special garments/clothes.

AUT Spirit (Spirituality and Chaplaincy) hosts a range of weekly activities within its prayer rooms as well as one off activities throughout the year.

Do come and join us. You are most welcome and we would love to see you there.
