Rules & Judging Criteria 

What is 3MT?

Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ). Research master's students and doctoral students who have successfully passed the PGR9 have three minutes to present their thesis and its significance in an inspiring and captivating way.

Why participate in the 3MT competition?

   your thesis/dissertation

* Winners participate at national and/or international level. 

Who is eligible to enter?

Doctoral candidates
You must have successfully passed your confirmation milestone (PGR9) or have your thesis under submission (for examination) by the date of their first 3MT presentation.

Master's research students
You must be enrolled in a research paper (dissertation or thesis) of 90 points (or more) or have your research under submission (for examination) by the date of their first 3MT presentation.

Doctoral and master's graduates are not eligible.

How do I enter?

Applications for the 2018 AUT 3MT Competition closed on Friday 22 June 2018.

We encourage you to register to attend the 2018 Postgraduate Research Symposium. The AUT 3MT Competition Finals will be taking place at this event.
