Students and staff can join AUT’s mission towards sustainable practices by choosing to walk, take public transport, use the AUT shuttle bus, or cycle.
To encourage sustainable transport options AUT has implemented a travel plan for students and staff travelling to and from AUT.
AUT’s travel plan covers all three campuses. It identifies an action list we can implement across:
Most full time tertiary students are eligible for a tertiary student concession, which gives you discounted travel on public buses, trains and ferries with an AT HOP card.

Our fleet vehicles were replaced by more fuel efficient standard models in 2012 and 2013.
AUT is completing a fleet audit in 2016 to investigate fleet optimisation and review the potential for including electric vehicles in the fleet. The audit is partially funded by the Energy Efficiency Conservation Authority.
Staff use our fleet vehicles for business purposes external to AUT. When travelling between AUT campuses, staff are encouraged to use the AUT shuttle to help minimise emissions.
