The Finance department is one of the leading research departments in New Zealand, ranked number one in the Auckland region and number two in the country based on the quality of its research in the latest round of Performance Based Research Fund conducted by New Zealand's Tertiary Education Commission in 2006.

Our research emphasis is applied and we actively pursue research collaboration both nationally and internationally, producing research outputs which are presented at major conferences and published in leading journals. Additionally, our group hosts research workshops, seminars and frequently invites visiting research fellows.
Teaching and learning
In Finance, we offer a range of core finance papers catering to both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The combination of teaching in small classes and research supervision by our experienced academics assures that the AUT standard of excellence is maintained.
