Te Ara Poutama is host to Te Ipukarea: the National Māori Language Institute and Te Whare o Rongomaurikura: The International Centre for Language Revitalisation. At the core of the Institute is the pursuit of excellence in scholarship, teaching and research in the Māori language and a commitment to advancing the mana of the language.

Te Kaharoa is a free access, multi-disciplinary, refereed, electronic journal with a focus on indigenous issues in the Pacific region. It accepts but is not limited to articles dealing with language, culture, art, history, anthropology, development studies, and other disciplines associated with the indigenous peoples of the Pacific. |

We are focus on supporting graduates in their academic pursuits. Postgraduate wānanga and a dedicated postgraduate room are part of the unique support system that Te Ara Poutama has in place. |
