Bachelor of Māori Development

Māori Development

Māori Development is an area that has become increasingly relevant in the New Zealand economic climate as Māori assert tino rangatiratanga and reach Treaty settlements. Te Ara Poutama prides itself on offering students a unique opportunity to combine learning about te ao Māori with exploring what makes a best practice development planning successful.

The major in Māori Development offers opportunities to develop and apply knowledge and skills required in the Aotearoa/New Zealand workplace from a Māori perspective. Students gain a foundation in tikangā and Te Reo Māori and an education in best practice development models. They also develop a strong awareness of the cultural and social issues facing Aotearoa New Zealand society. At the same time students are exposed to leading edge learning technologies.
