In its commitment to building an inclusive Aotearoa/New Zealand and in recognition of the value of te reo me nga tikanga Māori, Te Ara Poutama has expanded its Māori language programe by offering papers for advanced learners of Te Reo Māori. This opportunity is available to all students and their families, friends and work colleagues.
Te Ara Poutama, the Faculty of Māori Development, AUT is committed to producing quality speakers of Te Reo Māori. Titireia Māori is consistent with the act of enhancing (creating a thing of immense value) Māori knowledge, language and thinking. In the first instance, it is a strategy that addresses the University’s commitment to responding creatively and boldly to the learning needs of Māori. In a larger context however, Titireia Māori is a strategy that addresses fundamental questions related to our identity as modern New Zealanders who seek to be informed of both our past and present so that ultimately we will be confident about our future. Each paper is worth 15 points and taught at a Level 7. You are required to purchase the required textbook and have access to a computer and the internet.
