Master of Arts - Te Reo

Te Ara Poutama offers a te reo Māori specialisation in the Master of Arts programme.  This specialisation is delivered in te reo Māori utilising smart-board and video-conferencing technology across multiple sites.

The Master of Arts is a programme of advanced study and research. This qualification is structured to include both research methodology and coursework papers, followed by either a full year thesis or the option to pursue a site-based research project and dissertation.

What this qualification covers

Year One

In the first year, students undertake the following papers: Tikanga Rangahau; Te Whanaketanga o te Reo; Kōrero Whakarei; Tuhinga Totoko and Tikanga. Students’ research skills are developed in preparation for the thesis.

Year Two

In the final year, students write a thesis or complete a site-based project and dissertation.  The thesis or dissertation for this specialisation is to be written in te reo Māori.
