KIM PENETITO
MASTER OF MAORI DEVELOPMENT STUDENT
As a new student on the Masters in Màori Development, Kim found her views on being Màori challenged.
“A lot of what I believed and had been taught was from a Pàkehà perspective. I had to rethink and trust my experiences as a Mäori, that were unique to me,” she says.
Studying at Te Ara Poutama was a new and empowering experience, where Kim found she was acknowledged in the first instance for what she knew rather than what she didn’t know.
Kim is passionate about the Masters in Màori Development because it gives her an opportunity to contribute to the community as well as her family, hapü and iwi.
